FAQ

Q: How do I register to attend the Motor City Music Conference?
A: To purchase a badge or wristband visit www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 248-645-6666. For details on the levels of entry to MC2 click on the attend page of www.motorcitymusic.com.

Q: Are there special badges for the media?
A: Yes, if you are a member of the media and want to attend MC2 please contact erica@motorcitymusic.com requesting a badge.

Q: I can only attend MC2 for one day, do I still have to buy a full price badge or wristband?
A: No, a day pass to the conference and tradeshow at Cobo Expo Center will be available for $15 each day. The cover charge for each showcase is determined by each individual venue and may change nightly.

Q: I just found out I can't attend MC2. Can I get a refund?
A: I'm sorry, but MC2 is unable to give a refund or exchange for security purposes.

Q: How will I get around all of the different venues?
A: 80% of showcase venues are located within the perimeter of the Detroit People Mover and will remain open until 2:30 a.m. A map of the downtown area will be provided inside the MC2 edition of Real Detroit Weekly including an address, phone number and schedule of all the venues.

Q: I am an artist performing at MC2. Am I allowed to promote my show and use the MC2 name?
A: Promotion is the key component to a successful show. So, put it on your web site, print it on a flyer, post it on the MC2 community page or buy a billboard on the side of I-75.

Q: Can I still submit my music to play at MC2?
A: Unfortunately we are done accepting entries for this year. We were flooded with over 1,500 great applications before the February 1, 2005 deadline. We are now in the final stages of programming, but we encourage you to submit your music for next year (application information will be available online in August 2005)

Q: I have been placed on the stand-by pool. When will I know if I am performing?
A: If one of the acts is unable to play we will find someone from our stand-by pool matching the style of programming on the bill.

Q: I would like to be a part of MC2 by placing an ad in the program guide or having a trade show booth. Who should I contact?
A: We would love for you to be a part of MC2. Please contact kyle@motorcitymusic.com for advertising and/or bagstuffers and tradeshow@motorcitymusic.com for a tradeshow booth.

Q: Are there any discount offers on hotels or airfare through MC2?
A: By going to travel section of www.motorcitymusic.com you will find exclusive discount rates at convenient downtown Detroit hotels. The Detroit Marriot at Renaissance Center will be the official headquarters for MC2. Northwest Airlines has also offered discounted airfare for that week also available on MC2's web site.

Q: How do I exchange my ticket for a badge or wristband?
A: You can redeem your wristband, Platinum or Gold Music badge at Cobo Expo Center from 9 am - 8 pm Wednesday - Saturday (April 20-23) or Sunday (April 24) 11 am - 6 pm. You must have proper identification and either a ticket (purchased via Ticketmaster) or confirmation email to redeem a badge or wristband. If you purchased a student ticket, you must have a student identification card or the ticket will not be honored. Wristbands will also be redeemable (and for sale if you haven't bought yours yet!) at most participating MC2 venues and select retail outlets (to be announced shortly). Both wristbands and music badges will be available for sale at Cobo Expo Center during the conference.

Q: Am I guaranteed to get into any venue at any time?
A: Entry to all showcases are subject to venue capacity. Venues will allow entrance to platinum badge holders first, and will proceed with wristband holders until capacity. (NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE)

Q: Are there any age restrictions?
A: There are no age restrictions for the tradeshow or panel discussion at Cobo Event Center. Most venues will be 18 and up or 21 and up. Some will be all ages. It will specify on the official MC2 schedule age regulations for showcases.
